Taking a moment to see the bigger picture

We pledge our commitment towards social responsibility

  • We are committed to environmental efforts and philanthropy.

Our environmental efforts include green purchasing, reducing carbon footprint, reducing paper usage and promoting sustainable food. Our resources and furniture comes from companies who take their responsibilities to the child and environment seriously - they are made to last, made from recycled, or sustainably sourced materials and where workers are paid a fair wage for their labour.

Almost all of the nursery resources are manufactured in Europe, reducing carbon footprint, there are however some products sourced from developing countries which are always fair traded. The two main suppliers for furniture and resources within the setting both show a strong commitment to ethical standards, these are:

    Community Playthings – www.communityplaythings.co.uk/utility/care-for-environment

    Myriad – www.myriadonline.co.uk/terms-conditions/environmental-policy/

We use recycling materials for craft and art, with process painting an important element of the curriculum, where natural or recycled resources are used over standard paper. When paper is required, a tree-free product is used.

Through our considered and professionally reviewed menu KatieB Kids demonstrate a strong commitment to ethical, sustainable food choices.

  • KatieB Kids is dedicated to supporting causes that impact positively upon the lives of others.

Between 2011 and 2018 we supported the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, part of the Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Trust. This charity remains close to the hearts of KatieB Kids due to the amazing work that the hospital provides for all children including the eldest son of the nursery founder, Katie Ballard.

Young Benjamin Ballard, born with serious congenital heart disease and CFC syndrome, was retrieved to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at only one month old for intensive care treatment and now continues to rely on the specialist services of this hospital to remain well.

As a heartfelt thank you for saving their son Katie and her husband raised just over £29,000 for this wonderful organisation.

Since 2019 the charitable focus of KatieB has moved to a smaller charity, the Noonan Syndrome Association, UK. This is a charity dedicated to supporting people and families affected by Noonan Syndrome and related conditions (on the Ras/MAPK pathway) in the UK.

  • At KatieB Kids we are committed to offering support that keeps our team safe, healthy, and able to work

We know that in the 21st century people are finding life in general tough. We hear on the news about the rising crisis in mental health and part of our role as an employer is to support where we can. With ongoing outsourced mindfulness group and 1-1 sessions, wellbeing surveys and support, mental health first aiders and more we give our team the ability to learn about themselves, their boundaries, others’ boundaries, reactions, triggers, coping mechanisms and the ability to reflect – on how our behaviour, language and attitude affects ourselves, colleagues and our young charges. We support positive mental wellbeing at KatieB to take us strongly into the future as a resilient workforce, an empathetic workforce, and a place where you are supported.
